Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Describe what fashion is to you. I never knew much about fashion, but since I started modeling I learned that its's not just about pretty clothes, it's really a form of art. i deeply admire the people who are able to design and make it. To me personally, fashion is a fun hobby, an opportunity to create a certain image of yourself. But it's not everything. Favourite fashion designer. Alexander Wang. Favourite icon/model. Alexa Chung. Describe your style. Black. I love black and leather stuff. i'm basically always just wearing combat boots and an oversized coat. it's more edgy than girly I guess. What's your biggest dream? Teleportation. Favourite film/book/song. Film: probably Leon the professional or Fight club. Book: OLibroLver to you by Roald Dahl Song: this changes literally every hour so i'm probably gonna regret my choices, but at the moment it's hylas by Thomas Azier. Or love alight by the crystal fighters. Favourite food. Cheese fondue!! Also, hot chocolate with marshmallows in it. that's a drink. But it's still the best. 3 things that you would bring to a desert island. Obviously coffee, Hurley from Lost so he can build me a golf court, a ship in case the golf court sucks and I want to leave. What do you LOVE the most? My mom.

Julia van Os (Women) Nothing beats a classic beauty and Julia van Os' glamorous looks hark back to the days of Cindy, Linda, and Naomi. While she wouldn't seem out of place in the '90s, there is still something modern about Van Os' allure that has made her a favorite of designers. Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, and Tom Ford featured her prominently on their runways, while Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa even took to social media to post candid Polaroids.

Model Julia van Os Weighs In on Motorcycles and Miles Teller Dutch model Julia van Os is ready to make waves. After walking more than 40 shows in her first season and appearing in Fall campaigns for the likes of Calvin Klein Jeans and Alexander McQueen, Van Os is a rising star worth learning more about. Here, the fresh face breaks it down in her own words. Finishing high school was more important to her than breaking into fashion. “I signed myself up for a modeling contest in CosmoGirl with a friend when I was thirteen years old. It was honestly more of a joke; I didn’t expect anything to come from it. To my surprise I won, and that’s how I came into contact with my mother agency, Future Faces, in Amsterdam. However, I really did not want to start modeling until after I had graduated high school, which is why I’ve only recently started full time.” She’s handy with a sewing machine. “I don’t think I was that interested in fashion [before modeling], but I’ve always liked clothing. I could get lost in a good vintage store for hours. I also liked designing and making my own things, like dresses on the sewing machine. I was always busy turning my jeans into shorts, cutting and dyeing my T-shirts, that kind of stuff.” If you see her on the back of a motorcycle, don’t tell her agents! “I had a driver in Milan, and sometimes when I was in a big hurry to go from show to show, he would show up on his motorcycle instead of in his car, to avoid traffic. We didn’t tell my agency! They don’t want the models to go on motorcycles because it’s too dangerous. So we’d secretly go racing through the city all day on the motorcycle. That was a lot of fun!” Modeling has taught her not to take things too seriously. “You just have to shake all of that off. If you take every ‘no’ that you get personally, you will absolutely torture yourself. Of course, it’s good to be motivated and dedicated, but you also have to take a step back now and then, to get everything into perspective. If I start to freak out about something, I always try to think: In a year from now, this probably won’t matter and I’ll be laughing about it.” Celebrity crush? “Miles Teller.” If she could raid anyone’s closet? “That would have to be FKA twigs’s.” If she could meet one person from any era? “Stephen Hawking.” She may have a slight coffee addiction. “My biggest vice is probably drinking way too much coffee at any given point—that or overindulging in chocolate!” Next big purchase? “Right now I want a nice big cashmere sweater because it’s cozy and always timeless.” To borrow from Proust, her idea of perfect happiness? “Happiness is waking up on a Sunday morning to have breakfast in your pj’s with the people you love.”

Here, with exclusive photographs by her husband Matthew Eades, she rounds up the girls she's most excited about right now - revealing what makes a great model in her discerning eye. Quote: Julia van Os: Holland, 18 “Julia has that rare type of beauty that I think models like Daria Werbowy have - the ability to look both hard and soft; austere and sensuous at the same time. She’s had a fantastic season, but I think the best is yet to come for her.”
