Meet our Issue 6 cover girl! 17 year-old model Kitty Hayes hails from a town just southwest of London called Reading. She was scouted at Isle of Wight Festival in the U.K. when she was only 12. Her first stop on the road to making it big was a recent contract with Ford Models and now here she is—braces and all—on our sixth cover. “Carine teased me by telling me that she had a surprise for me,” Kitty says. “She told everyone else in the room that I was the cover girl, but she said it in French so that I didn’t understand! She then took me into the studio and told me. I was so shocked that I could hardly speak, I am so grateful to Carine and all of her team. This is so exciting for me!” Kitty loves Versace, her celebrity crush is Ansel Elgort, and her favorite makeup artist is her mum, Jackie Tyson. Get to know Kitty and her magical trip from a festival-going math and economics student to high fashion’s rising star: First memory of fashion: I’ve always remembered my sister modeling, so I had an impression of the industry before I was even involved. She took me to my first ever casting and I remember being so nervous, but excited at the same time. Your favorite modeling career moment so far: I’ve had the opportunity to visit some really amazing places. We shot the [CR Fashion Book] cover in Paris and it’s such a beautiful city. I’m so lucky to have been able to visit! People would be surprised to know that… People often don’t realize that I’m still at school! I study mathematics, economics, psychology, and photography five days a week. Favorite designer: I’ve always followed Versace and I love all of their clothes. I have worked for Versus before and I think that Gianni Versace was such an iconic designer that I will always admire. Your role models: I am the youngest of three girls. My big sisters are both so successful and I have always wanted to be just like them. Upcoming projects: With the modeling industry you never know what’s coming next, but my mother agency SUPA is great and they always keep me really busy. I’m also now involved with Ford in New York and Paris who are both amazing, so hopefully I’ll be able to travel some more. Actress who would play you in a movie: Anna Kendrick because she seems like a really real person. I think she’s such a good actress and it would be amazing if she played me. Your celebrity crush: I really fancy Ansel Elgort who is the main actor in The Fault In Our Stars. Originally the film was a book by John Green and I really loved it, so when it went to the big screen I was amazed to find that it was exactly how I had pictured it in my head! Who is your favorite makeup artist or hairstylist: I was honored to have been able to work with Topolino and Guillaume Bérard, but my loyalty lies with my Mum, Jackie Tyson. She’s an amazing makeup artist and I have always admired her hard work and dedication to her job. She’s still the only person that I let cut my hair! Your most embarrassing moment: Recently I had a really important casting but when I came out I looked in the mirror and found that I had spinach in my braces! I was so embarrassed and everyone would have seen it! What is the craziest thing that has ever happened to you: I was 12 years old at Isle of Wight Festival with my family when I got scouted, that is still crazy to me. Favorite beauty trick: Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream is my savior! I use it on my lips and hands and it just works for everything. My parents always encouraged me to eat three balanced, healthy meals a day and now that’s just what I do. In 10 years you’ll be: I will finish school in one year’s time and then I hope to travel, but I have no idea where I will be in 10 years time.
