Prada has for years been the stalwart launchpad for models careers. So often, models have gone on from their coveted debuts and exclusive spots to be the recognized muses on global billboards and covers. However even with the excitement that an earlier-announced joint venture between Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons brought, this season there was much contemplation on how, and even if, the show would continue in a season rooted in anxiety thanks to the COVID19 pandemic. Yesterday’s live-streamed show unveiled a roster of unknowns, a nod to the brand’s legacy, its casting dominance, and also to the current state of affairs. First up in look 1, was platinum blond Lydia Kloos, the Dutch new face discovered in Amsterdam by mother agency, Micha Models. Coincidentally, the monumental event was also the teen’s birthday, and what a better way to bring it in? “This Prada show was my 1st show ever,” Kloos describes. “The entire team was so friendly and such a pleasure to work with. Raf and Ashley Brokaw specially arranged a birthday cake for me which I thought was so kind.” Kloos relates that the experience with the moving cameras and monitors was akin to a science fiction film, a relatable description in dystopian times. |
