We’d hazard a guess that most young girls have daydreamed about one day stomping down runways for the likes of Saint Laurent and Gucci. For Stella Hanan, that dream is now a reality — and it’s not hard to see why. With bright blue eyes, illustriously carved cheekbones, and a perfect pillowy pout, she more closely resembles a seasoned supermodel than a 20-year-old Sydneysider. That's probably why, when she was just 14, Hanan was scouted while shopping at Sydney's iconic Paddington markets. Having waited until she was a little older to officially enter the modelling business, at 18, she – quite literally – followed in the footsteps of top Australian modelling exports like Gemma Ward and Miranda Kerr, walking the hallowed runways of Australian Fashion Week. Much like the now-supermodels, Hanan tallied an impressive number of local runways in her first Australian season — a strong indicator of what was to come next. While the event is largely considered a launchpad for local design talent, it’s also a training ground for young models hoping to one day making it big on the international modelling circuit. And in a textbook success story, that’s exactly what Hanan has done.

The model left Sydney in September, 2024, to try her luck at the Spring/Summer 2025 shows, and had more than a little success. Hanan debuted at Alaïa, where she floated down the runway (which was hosted in the iconic Guggenheim Museum) in a hooded cerulean cloak and matching mini skirt. She then went on to book shows like Khaite, Toteme, Michael Kors, Saint Laurent, Versace, and a closing slot at Gucci under her belt – no easy feat, if you ask us.

So where does one go after securing their spot as one of the breakout stars of the season? Well, Hanan is back at it for the Fall Winter 25 season, boasting runways for Givenchy, Hermès, Chloé, Rabanne, Versace, Gucci, Rabanne, and Marc Jacobs – and the season isn't over. yet.

In all likelihood, Hanan will follow in the footsteps of Angelina Kendall, a fellow young Australian model who, after dominating the local market, has taken the international scene by storm. Or perhaps she'll make like supermodel-turned-movie-star Gemma Ward, and try her hand at the silver screen next? Whatever Hanan's next move, we'll be watching closely.

When did you start your modelling career? I started modelling when I was sixteen, doing jobs during the school holidays. I was scouted at the Paddington Markets when I was fourteen years old but I was so young at the time so wanted to wait a couple of years. What do you love most about being a model? Modelling has given me so many opportunities to work with great brands, travel and meet incredible people. When I’m on set, I love all the creativity and being able to see and be a part of the process from start to finish – the light, different camera, the styling, makeup, locations. It is so nice to work with teams who are passionate and love what they do. I feel so lucky. What would you be doing if you weren’t a model? If I wasn’t modelling, I think I would be studying a business or economics degree, ultimately lining up a career in marketing. How do you start your morning and end your days? I always start my morning with a shower and then a walk with my dog Reggie. I find my days are better if I start by getting outside and around nature. My night-time routine ends with my skincare routine – I love to wind down from the day with some self-care. What is your top beauty secret? Less is more. Keep it natural with makeup and use clean, simple, research-based skincare. Who is your style muse? Elsa Hosk, Zendaya and Victoria Beckham. Effortlessly chic!

What are your most cherished rituals? I’m so fortunate that I am very close with my family and still live at home, so my favourite ritual is cooking and eat dinner together every night. We chat about our days over dinner – it really is so special to have such an amazing support network around me. What is your favourite pastime? I love being creative. If I’m not painting or drawing, I’ll be crocheting or cooking something to keep me busy and using my hands. What are you currently reading / watching / listening to? I’m currently reading a book called A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara but I’ve only just started it. I’m watching Normal People – would definitely recommend! What are your wardrobe must-haves? I’m all about investing in wardrobe essentials – blazers and your go-to denim jeans are my must-haves. Where is your favourite travel destination? I travelled to Europe this year and I fell in love with Italy. Every town has so much culture, vibrance, passion and love.

Where are your travelling to next? For now, I’m keeping it local, and over summer will be in Bundeena (a beach town I grew up in) and exploring more of the NSW coastline. What is your best selfie tip? Natural lighting. What was your favourite look from our Resort 23/24 collection, ISOLA? It’s hard to pick but I would say the San Antonia Maxi Dress. It’s the perfect, fun but classy dress for summer.
